The process of creating a daily log in Field Reporter is easy, yet different depending on the type of system you are working on. You access your dailies by clicking the Daily Log selection in the Job menu, but the window that opens differs depending on whether you are working on an Office system or a Foreman system.
When you access daily logs using an Office system you are taken to the Daily Logs by Foremen
window, which lists all of the workdays for which your foremen have recorded progress for the active job (the job you are working on). Depending on your security level, you can review or edit the daily log for any foreman. You can also create new dailies for yourself or for other foreman.
NOTE: To learn more about Foreman vs Office systems, open Field Reporter and go to Setup > Systems/Devices and press F1 to view that Help topic.
If you are working on an Office System, follow the steps below to create a workday for a Daily Log.
Open Daily Logs by Foreman window
Go to: Job > Daily Log
If you are working on an Office system, the Daily Logs by Foremen window will open.
Click on a date in the Work Day panel and a list of all daily logs recorded that day by your foremen will be shown in the Foreman panel on the right. To review or edit a log, just double click on it.
Add a Work Day
To add a new workday, click insert and the Insert Daily Log window will open. Here,
you will enter the Report Date, the Foreman for which you are entering data, and the
day’s Weather conditions.
If no workdays have yet been entered for this job, the Report Date field will be blank. Otherwise, the Report Date field will show the most recently recorded workday. To change the date, enter it in the field, or click search to select a date from the system calendar.
In the Foreman field, the system will default to the current user. If you want to enter a different
foreman, click the drop list arrow next to the Foreman field and then double click on the foreman you want.
Do the same in the Weather field. Click the drop list arrow and from the menu that opens, double click on the weather condition that fits the work day you are entering.
Click OK and your entry will now be displayed in the Foreman panel. To record progress for that workday, double click on it and the Daily Log window will open.
To add additional dates, click insert again to open the Insert Daily Log window.
NOTE: When a budget item takes longer than one day to complete, you can use the copy toolbar button to copy the previous day's records into a new daily. In this way, all of your labor and equipment can be copied into the new daily and all you need to do is modify hours and enter the work progress. To learn more, see the Copy Workday Fast Trax.
