Refresh Detail Costs in the SharpeSoft Estimator

Dylan C

In the midst of bidding jobs, it may happen that users find themselves entering appropriate prices into certain bid item detail costs as they come up. At the end of the bidding process, many of our detail costs might be wildly different from the costs that we’ve set up in the associated tables.

Thankfully, the Estimator has an option in the Utilities menu to return all of these disparate costs back to what they should be. This is the Refresh All Detail Costs From Table utility.

In the example below, we will focus on two specific detail items: Crush Rock Haul from Teichert and 12” Di Mj 90 Deg. Bend. The original prices of these items are 3.75 and 128 respectively. In the course of the bid, these prices have been changed, but now we would like to bring them back into line with the table prices.

How to

  • Select Utilities from the menu bar.

  • From the drop-down menu, select Refresh All Detail Costs From Table.

  • In the pop-up window, select which detail types to refresh. Our example includes an Outside Trucking item and a Material item, so we will check both of these. This Utilities menu selection will go through all of the detail records in the active job and check the prices in the bid against the current prices in your tables (Materials, Equipment, Labor, etc.).  Wherever the prices differ, the system will update the bid items with the prices listed in the table.

  • If you want the system to check detail records against all the tables, click Mark All.  To start over, click Unmark All.  If you want only specific table pricing checked against the current detail records, click on each table you want included in the update.  Click Update Costs to continue.

Important to note: If a detail item has multiple associated vendors, the most previous vendor will be the one selected when changes are applied.

Also important to note: These changes apply only to the currently activated job. If you have multiple jobs that need detail costs refreshed, you will need to do so inside each job.
